STEAM FIELD / Apeiron Song
The performance installation STEAM FIELD/Apeiron Song opens up the public space in a field of tension between the ephemeral nature of sound and the volatility of water when it changes into the gaseous state of aggregation. In the center of the implementation are 12 gas-heated water boilers with two-tone steam whistles. Together they open up the exhibition space in a site-specific arrangement. Each of the steam pipes receives an individual tuning in a harmonic tone sequence. During the performance, the gas burners are ignited one after the other and heat the water in the boilers to boiling point. The steam of the water drives the pipes and marks the time frame of the performance. A sound space of mechanically modulated tones is created, which produce different mixtures depending on the position of the recipient.
